A laminator is an important addition to your office or home. There are many varieties of laminating machines. Lamination is the quickest way to preserve all your documents and prints.

It protects your documents from moisture and other damages. Lamination can protect the documents from sun damages, wrinkles, stains, smudges and other environmental issues.

How to use laminating pouches

A lamination pouch is normally sealed on one side. Such pouches are being used in hot laminators. Cold laminators do not require heat. Cold laminators are very useful for certain products, prints and documents that can be easily damaged by heat.

Some laminators have foiling functionality. Colour foiling can be applied to a laser printer or to any copied document such as business cards, menus etc. Here you can apply foiling sheets to the required area and run it through the laminators.

Sometimes it is required to use specially coated carrier sheets during lamination. The carrier sheets are used to distribute the generated heat to the pouch and protect the roller.

Are laminating carrier sheets important

Carrier sheets are normally designed to protect the rollers against the accumulation of excess adhesive. But silicone rollers do not require carrier sheets. They may not operate properly if carrier sheets are used. Please refer the user manual before you use carrier sheets.

Please do not try to prepare your own carrier sheets. Always use the sheets that were provided with the machine. Do not try to laminate an irreplaceable document. As Laminator is a piece of machinery, you should not try to laminate irreplaceable things in new machines.

Tips for Laminating

1. Make sure that you are using the right type of pouch for the item to be laminated. Go through the guidelines of the manufacturer.
2. Make sure that the machine is properly warmed up to the appropriate temperature before you start laminating.
3. It is better to use a card carrier if necessary.
4. Make sure that the document to be laminated is right up to the sealed edge of the pouch, allowing a minimum border around the rest of the document to avoid jamming.
5. Never use self-made chopped up pouches. You can easily cut the item down to size after it has been laminated.
6. While cutting the laminated documents, you should leave a seal around the edge. If you try to cut all the way to the edge, your laminate will come apart.
7. To avoid wrinkling while laminating an irregular surface, it is essential to send it through the machine twice.
8. All pouches should be fed in sealed end first.
9. Make sure that rollers are cleaned frequently so that you can prevent the build-up of sticky residue. This residue can cause pouches to jam. Warm the machine to actual laminating temperature and just pass a non-glossy piece of card through the laminator like a1 laminators, a2 laminators, a3 laminators.
10. If a pouch gets trapped, stop feeding anything into the laminator to push the pouch out. Please contact the manufacturer. Never try to carry out repairs without consulting the manufacturer.
