- Initially check whether the cash register has a tape in it or not. The tape in the cash register will give the receipt that is to be provided to customers. The copy of the receipt is also kept with the store owner as a record of the sale.
- The cash register drawer should be ready before using. The money collected from the customers is kept in the drawers of the cash registers. There are different drawers for keeping bills, credit card receipts, currency notes, coins and others.
- Now check the products when the customer approaches the counter for bill payment. Each item that the consumer wants to purchase must be scanned with the cash register. Scanning the products in cash register will help to keep the record of the item number and its price.
- Once all the products that the customer wants to buy are scanned, hit the total button on the cash register. The total amount with the item numbers will be displayed on the cash draws or cash register. The store owner can inform the customer about the amount of money he or she needs to pay for the products.
- After the customer gives the money enter them into the cash register. The cash register will give the number of change to be given to the customer if any. For instance, the customer owes $25, and he gives $30. Now the cash register will automatically calculate and tell that $5 is to be returned back to the consumer.
- If the customer wishes to pay through the credit card, the cash register has the facility of swapping. The copy of the receipt or MOU that the customer signs should be placed in the cash register.
